There seems to be a resurgence of interest in blogging here in 2021. With all the online trainings the past few years being geared more toward Social Media strategies, blogging kind of lost it’s flare…but not it’s business growth power.
Yes, Blogging is still the #1 way to maintain a business presence online. SEO is not dead and to use SEO (Search Engine Optimization) correctly you need to feed the google machine content and a lot of it.
Reason #1 – In 2023, eCommerce retail purchases are expected to rise from 14.1% to 22%.
In Other Words – Retail e-commerce sales in the United States are projected to grow at a fast pace in the coming years, going from 505 billion U.S. dollars in 2018 to over 735 billion US dollars in 2023.
Did we not see that coming? Of course we did but are we putting ourselves in position to handle the surge? Blogging is one way to manage that and get more eyes on your business!
Reason #2 – Unlike Social Media or other selling platforms .. IE: Amazon, eBay, Etsy or Mercari your Business is your blog. You own It. At any given time Social Media or other selling platforms can cancel your account… and they can do it with no reason as to why. Facebook Marketplace is a prime example. It is getting tougher and tougher to sell consistently on that platform. Mostly due to strict policies. Type in one word wrong in a title or description and you will get the item pulled, they put you FB jail for a few days or they simply do not allow you to sell any longer. Once you own your blog and learn to turn traffic into leads, your Blog and Email list become your business and can not be taken away. Barring any illegal activities of course.
Reason #3– Authority and Credibility. If you are in your business, even if only part time a Blog is your central hub to build long term credibility. Once you establish yourself as somebody who can provide solutions to problems in your niche … the blog becomes a community of customers and potential customers seeking out your experience.
A blog can be used to educate and direct people to where they need to go next. Too sell more widgets – educate, educate, educate – your potential consumers. They may not need the widget right now but when we keep dripping content on them over time when you are consistent, you become top of mind awareness to them. Need a fast meal? What is the most recognizable restaurant in the world?? … Make Since??

Owning your own site and hosting is best but if it’s not in the budget, this is where I started. There are many successfulk bloggers out there that use a free blog. Just have to be aware all that time spent creating content could be lost if theyshut down or just like eBay or Facbook decide to kick you off.
